Guest cookoff013
guys, with the price of shells getting more, is it more economical now to reload than ever? the price break for making "decent" shells is about 200/k. i see that 20gauge has just averaged out at this, has reloading become more attractive? Blunderbust
I have to admit that at this time I would not consider reloading shot gun shells, however I would never say never in the future. I am in the process of getting myself set up with the means to reload my rifle ammo. I cant say that I will end up saving that much, possibly in the long run I may, but it would be good to be able to work up a load for my centre fire rifles and then use it without having to worry about getting a constant supply of the factory ammo that they like. On saying that at this time it is a bit of a problem finding the components I wish to use.
Floating Chamber
Reloading has always paid ; I have been doing it since 1962. You need to know where to look. Don't take everything on here about cost as Gospel.

Don't take everything on here about cost as Gospel. yes, too true. decent ammo is about £200/k, thats the cost / tipping point of most reloads. thats with decent powdercharges (non reduced), and factory lead. i noticed that "decent" 20gauge ammo is about £200. i hear that all the big manufacturers are increasing the prices/
Vince Green
As the price of ammo goes up the price of reloading components go up even quicker I would say. Its silly season on powders for example. £200/K is peanuts really. Much cheaper in real terms that it has ever been. B B
I agree with the sentiment it has allways ben viable to some extent, its been the mainstream clay and pigeon fodder that has been less popular to reload this past 10 or 15 years for many shooters. The wildfowlers and heavy specialist reloaders have allways been abl to make good inroads in to cost cutting over factory offerings, and the small bores and big bores again offer substantial savings to be made when reloading. With todays ammo prices i think a lot more shooters will reload than they have in recent years.
HDAV
Reloads or home loads not allowed in completion means factory loads for competitive clay shooters! What value do you put on your time ?
