rabbiter
hi guys, just been offered an s410 for £175,the barrel will need reblueing and the stock will need to be stripped and reoiled, the charge indicator is showing empty,i don't know how long its been this way and am thinking the seal may be perished,it has an ags scope on top,so would you take a punt on it or would it be too expensive if I needed all seals replaced aswell as the other work, although I can do the stock myself!..........DAZ
chrisjpainter
you can do the stock yourself, and the bluing can be done at home too, if you get a good kit. The Birchwood casey one is good (see link at the bottom) If it were me, I'd take along some charging equipment and top it up to 190 to see how quickly it loses pressure, but even if it needs a complete seal overhaul, £175 could be a bit of a bargain, and a nice project to make the gun bespoke.you could even do the seal kit yourself if you felt up to it (see second link). That way you could take a punt on it and keep costs down. I think I'd be tempted. If you spent £205 and it came out as good as any other second hand S410, at the very least you could easily sell it on for a lot more than you spent in total. Or keep it yourself and have a cracking PCP Bluing kit:http://www.ronniesunshines.com/shooting-equipment-1/gun-maintenance/birchwood-casey-complete-perma-blue-liquid-gun-blue-kit.html Seal Kit http://www.airrifleshop.co.uk/AirgunSpares/AS_SKit_AAS400.htm
rabbiter
thanks mate,i actually have that blueing kit,i did also think about the nice project part of it,maybe on to a good thing only I don't have a charging kit yet,lol.............DAZ forgot to mention, its just the gun and an ags scope,no charging adaptors or even a magazine. evo
Daz bite his hand off mate , excellent price and you would be stupid not to buy, honest opinion is get it pro blued and do the stock and seals yourself, you will end up with a top pcp for a sting mate, all the best Evo

rabbiter
this is the filling valve........ am I right in saying its a female type fitting, and are they interchangeable so I can put a male fitting in instead? DAZ
NIGHT SEARCHER
Have a look at www.best-fittings.co.uk part no 03A1-ML03 air arms new style fill valve £14.50. Also part no 03A1-KT01 air arms fill valve upgrade full kit £46.50. It looks like the push on type filler without the locking tee key. That looks like the male part and the female part should be on your filler pipe. If you ring them they will send you a catalogue 0845 456 1185. rabbiter
ok so ive totally stripped the stock,i then stained it with walnut stain, when dried I gave it a rub with finishing oil,ive a couple more coats of finishing oil to do,but I think its looking a bit better up to now......... ill put a few more pics on when its finished,in the meantime the stock its sitting in now will be replaced with a beautiful walnut custom jobbie, cant wait,so for a £175 rifle I think its definitely gonna be worth it thanks for looking................DAZ
