rtaylor
Can anyone give me a better idea what kind of action is on my rifle? It is a Sabatti .243. Made in Italy. I suppose it could be there own action? I had thought it looked a bit like the Mauser action, the recoil lug and flat bottom are similar but the bolt, safety & trigger are different. Scully
Looks very similar to the Remington 700 action /trigger guard assembly to me,except for the bolt handle.
rtaylor
All the remy 700 actions I've seen are round. Also the recoil lug on them is thinner and deeper and sort or wraps around the action a bit. Mine is shallow and quite thick and the action is flat. Unless the older 700 actions are like that which I haven't seen
ZG47
It was my understanding that the Sabatti Rover uses the company's own action but it is quite a while since I read the original magazine test reports.
iain
It's a mauser 98 clone. Same as Parker hale, interarms ect. Good action.
rtaylor
I did think it looked similar to the Mauser. I guess Sabatti did their own tweaks on the bolt. Cheers guys
Beretta28g
It's a mauser 98 clone. Same as Parker hale, interarms ect. Good action. rtaylor
I'll try and update the pictures when I take the action out of the stock next. Fister: bedding job turned out better than expected. Thanks again for sorting me with those pillars. Edited June 19, 2013 by rtaylor
Paul223
It is absolutely NOTHING like a rem 700. It looks like a generic 'non 700/98' type of action, push feed? Cant tell without seeing the bolt shatf but cant see any evidence of a full length claw a la Mauser. If it looks like anything its Howa but its not that. It is what it is! Its got a Germanic spoon handle bolt so realistically its just AN action, you can see a bit of Tikka in it too i suppose but that bolt handle says german/austrian or COPY to me. yeah see where your coming from re tikka, especially the older tikka's
