four-wheel-drive
Rust is the only real problem look at the seat belt anchor points and if you can where the body fixes to the chase most mechanical problems are not to expensive to have fixed what year is it. I have got a 1998 - 3 door vitara and I love it but I do think that if I was buying again I would plum for a grand vitara as they are a bit bigger and not quite so hair dresser looking. henry d
Also check the fuel tank, mine rotted around the fuel lines, apparently there is a hollow and the crud from your off-roading ends up there.

four-wheel-drive
It looks like you have got a good one there also vits are simple to improve with body lifts and big tyres for going off road or just fit a good set of mud tyres and there will go almost anywhere and no computer problems to worry about unlike the rovers.
