Reeceknight
already the name comes across as chave I know, when a friend at work mentioned it to me today I cringed at the idea but thats because he was talking about doin all the engraving on an action in pink if u was a girl etc. Then I started thinking it might look nice doing some lettering in gold or silver, more to the point I was thinking of doing "AYA NO2" in gold that's engraved on the rib on my gun? Anyone tryed this or heard of it going wrong? Pros and cons? Here's one of the 100s of links about it on tinternet http://www.guntorturetests.com/2012/05/31/personalizing-your-gun-with-color-fill-ver-2-0/
Reeceknight
it's seems to be an American thing for pistols etc but don't see why it would work on rib engravings to give a nice professional look to a gun http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=414297
welshwarrior
Normally it's done by undercutting the engraving so the base is wider than the surface (hope that makes sense it does quite sound right to me) then gold is pressed/ hammered into the void. Read expensive There will be a couple of cheaper cheats out there, I think birchwood casey do a pen that will infill the engraving never seen it done or the results. Reeceknight
lol I really don't want to be the first to try it but think do e correct with time has potential to look good
Gunman
If done correctly it will look OK . But it needs doing correctly and that will not be a cheap job . Personally I would leave well alone.

figgy
You cut a dove tail into the metal and hmmer gold wire into the groove, as the gold goes in it spreads into the dovetail wedge so it can't come back out, as others have posted. Don't use a gold marker pen Some great videos online of engravers doing it I personally like some of the engraving filled with enamel of varying colours to make stunning game scenes.
