roughshooter
Picked up a PW LS1000 progressive reloader yesterday in 12g. Have given it a clean as it was covered in dust and have to say the quality of the machine is superb. I have downloaded the manual and will get started with it later in the week but would be interested to see if anyone else has one and how they get on with it Regards Graham PS If it goes well then I will be selling of some of my other presses ie Mec 600 Jr with adjustable charge bar and a Mec 761 Grabber with 6 charge bars and shed loads of bushings
saddler
Not a fan of progressive presses...never took to my Pacific/Hornady 366. DO get on with my Ponsness Warren 375 Du-O-Matic, single stage. Cracking build quality, turns out lovely looking cartridges. Need to upgrade mine to the taper crimp die set though, as I only use pumps or my Auto-5, so don't want to risk feed problems during a timed comp. A couple of very knowledgeable P/W users frequent the ShotgunWorld forum, esp. Dano***? They're always quick to help with problems & answer any questions. I still use my other single-stage presses for specific tasks....but since getting it the P/W is my main machine... With a Ponsness Warren you don't reload so you can go shooting...you go shooting so you can reload
Guest cookoff013
thats the only thing stopping me getting a pw. the cost. they are lovely machines and very well engineered. but sadly cost too much in this country,
dipper
Hello Saddler I have a PW 375 the old one when i load a cartridge take it out of the holder i fixed a extra station on the right hand side. Made from crimping cone of a old bowman works great . If you want pictures let me know. Dipper.

What I do at present is make up a batch on the 375, then run them through the RCBS Rockchucker fitted with an RCBS 12-ga die (set up for taper crimping) Your added crimping cone would be a much handier option - pics would be of interest, ta. dipper
Hi Saddler Hope you got picks .Got some data on crimp taper with c/f cases loaded on lee loader 21.1/2 of 82 powder cci primer plaswad mk 4 1 1/4 oz shot without taper 1 inch pressure 2.8tons psi obv 950 ft per sec crimp pull 40lbs. heavy taper 4.2 tons psi obv 1040 ft per sec crimp pull 100 lbs . Lesson is dont overdo taper on c/f cases.or p/t cases. Dipper/
saddler
Cheers Dipper Was away most of the weekend - but now have the pics, ta. Will have a look around to see what options I can find regarding taper crimp dies to cannibalise & fit to the
roughshooter
Bolted thePW1000 to the bench today and set it up for some 32g pigeon loads just to try it out. Can't believe the qulaity of the shells it produces after only just giving it minimal adjustments. I think my mec presses are now redundant!
