aris
just to stir the proverbial, noticed the front page of several papers today point out that 1 in 4 births are by foreign mothers, oooh feel the hate If they are born to EU citizen parents (i.e. Polish, or any oter EU state) exercising treaty rights in the UK (basically resident here - not necessarily in a job - could be on benefits) the children can automatically claim British citizenship. Gimlet
you aren't stirring anything, you are just pointing out the horror of it all, and the betrayal of the uk, europe and the new world. , Agreed KW is merely stating the facts, but I wouldn't say the UK has been betrayed along with Europe but by Europe, ie., by the EU. The free movement of people means that our borders now extend to the edge of Europe, to Sicily, Malta, Greece and Romania in other words. Anyone who legally enters an EU state may effectively enter Britain and there's nothing we can do about it. The vast increase in non-EU immigrants to Britain is a direct consequence of our EU membership. It is easier for beleaguered border authorities in the peripheral EU states to allow illegals to disperse into Europe than to try to detain or expell them, because they know that these people intend to head for the northern EU states like wealthy Germany and foolishly generous Britain, where they become someone else's problem. The nascent EU superstate with its burgeoning club of economic failled states and its abolition of national borders has turned the entire continent into a vast migrant transit camp. If on the other hand you mean that the soveriegn nations and the ordinary people of the Europe have betrayed along with the people of Britain, then I entirely agree with you. Most European nations have an honourable tradition of lynching or beheading treachorous leaders. Here's hoping some traditions still survive...
