Variation help

Ok, so I have a .22lr on an open ticket and have had a licence about 8 yrs.

I just put in to Cambs for a variation for a .243 for fox and deer (I have the suitable land perm for this) and I've been told that without a dsc or having been out with someone 1/2 dozen times who is willing to sign me off as competent I have no chance!

So, is there anyone in Cambridge area who is able to let me come out with them a few times so I can get my .243? Big ask I know but there's nothing else I can do!

Thanks,

The issue is you need someone with a .243 to let you come out and shoot deer, provide the rifle and the deer its not a simple one for free. The best way if you won't do DSC1 is to do some paid stalks with someone locally and go down that route and it is a good route to go down as you will get experience and learn a lot from the right people.

there is nothing in the guide lines that say you have to have dsc1or a mentor to own a 243..

Like most forces now a days they are making the rules up to suit themselves

WHY You should not have to do this big brother again..

Ring basc bud

Don't think it will get me anywhere, chief firearms officer said without dsc or experience I have no chance as I can't demonstrate competence and quoted some section from the Act. Not worth getting on the wrong side if him as I shoot over his brothers land!

Of course , what goes round comes round. Message me prior to a weekend and well go foxing......crops will be cut very soon so lots about

You should be able to acquire a rifle prior to mentoring tho just will have restrictions
