Inline motor magnet

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Does anyone know if there's a company who still make these? I know pinewood still do but don't fancy paying what their asking for one. I'm sure uksw use to sell them but they don't seem to be for sale on the website. Even better if someone has made there own version of one and could let me know where to get the motor from.

Cheers

Ben

I made one once from an old battery drill, glassfiber'd it to a metal post and used with some welding a brake pipe union that screw'd on in place of the chuck with appropriate arm fixings, used the trigger from the drill as a speed controler .

Did get a little hot with constant running but lasted me a year or two.

Ran better when used with hypaflaps though.

I use one now with hypas thats made from a kids toy, 6 volt runs happily all day .

I sent my rotary back to Pinewood this week. It has done several years of fault free service but it was beginning to make odd noises. Pinewood serviced it and put in a new motor and the cost will be around £60 which I am very happy to pay as it works out at 10p per outing.

The pine wood machines are very nice, I got a motor unit from Roland and fitted it to my mates machine, his is 12 years old and done a lot of work.

One thing I would say is with wet or sandy ground the use of a single pole fixing can cause it to wobble a bit over the day.

You rarely see them for sale second hand as people keep them a long time and spares are next day post....

Agreed. I have one with a collar on. It's a bit fiddly to screw in the three legs but once the main shaft has been screwed into the ground and the collar pushed down the legs give it great stability.
