The Essex Hunter
I looked in the feeding guide handed out to all young pigeons as they leave the nest, it is highlighted under section R for random!! TEH
Bobba
I looked in the feeding guide handed out to all young pigeons as they leave the nest, it is highlighted under section R for random!! TEH Tend to agree. I have never seen pigeons form regular patterns. Yesterday, for example, we shot over flattened barley. Areas of the field had been flattened by the weather. No scope for specific "v" or "comma" patterns or any other pattern for that matter. Our permission had agreed to a limited walk into a flattened area where we set up a rotary and scattered shell decoys randomly facing in all directions. We shot 146. I take the view that if what you do works for you and gives you confidence then go with it. Me? I'm more in the "Random" pattern camp. VINCED 686
As above. If the pigeons feel safe to land and feed they will join the party. As for the flapper I put mine amongst a small group of decoys to mimic a bird jostling for space to feed ....top middle or bottom of the pattern. It all depends on what feels right on the day. As for the magnet ...either left or right of the hide between 5 and 10 metres out. Again what feels right at the end of the day ! Just play around with it and if it doesn't work ....change it !
