markyboy
Hi guys, just touching on an earlier thread ! My father has a bettinsoli and its been double discharging just recently at the clay ground, Mabie say 5 times from 100 shots my dad run in up to the local gunsmith and spoke to him today and told my dad that, bettinsoli called back their guns after discovering this problem to have and upgrade kit of new sears and hammers fitted and in some possible cases machine work needing to be done to them ? Also he added that this bettinsoli has came in through Ireland and never came directly from Ameritech ( not sure of spelling ) a German distributor ? Does this make any sense to anybody ?? And what does one do from here when the bill could be into the hundreds of pounds getting sent away etc etc your help be on this be great ! david_r
My Bettinsoli has been back twice. Purchased it new in 2010 and it came with a 3 year warranty. First incident happened weeks after purchasing it. Went back for rework via the RFD. Happened again about three months ago and I spoke to the UK importers RUAG, mostly to voice my displeasure. They took it back free of charge and repaired it. According to them this was the first time they had seen the gun back?! Suspect the RFD sent it off first time to a local gunsmith. Touch wood its been fine since. I wad told by another RFD that there are a fair few grey imports of Bettinsoli shotguns, not through the UK importer RUAG, and as such warranty work is a problem. Might be worth contacting RUAG with the serial number and see what they say. Did you buy the gun new? What was the warranty period? crowdie2013
I bought a bettinsoli from a guy on here a few years ago and was fine for 200 carts then it happened to me. It went into a gunsmith who simply ended up taking apart and cleaning and touch wood it hasn't double discharged since. I've seen plenty of guns double discharge and have heard a few people say its the inertia from the 1st shot being taken when not properly into the shoulder that causes the 2nd barrel to go due to the trigger being inadvertently pulled by the recoil. Who knows but always better to get a professional gunsmith to look at it.
darren 67
One of the problems is that safety/barrel selector drifts into the middle and if you don't notice it sometimes double discharges. Like its been said above take apart and clean and a light greasing of mechanism usually sorts it out.

Interesting..My daughters selector drifts to the middle but we noticed it straight away and have always steered it either right or left. Does the strip and grease service always work? would be happy to pay if thats all that was needed. atvb Paul.
darren 67
Don't really know if always works but did on mine and heard a few more say worked on theirs. Not a permanent fix but after having to do mine for first time never waited for it to double discharge before doing it again. Now I just strip down and clean decrease every few months. Saves my shoulder getting a good kick.
Rst1990
I had a new bettinsoli briefly (about 1week) first few shots was perfect after a while the bottom barrel wasn't engaging, I took the gun back to the rfd who agreed to get it sent off for repair but I opted to get rid and get a new beretta, really disheartened me as I love the looks of the bettinsoli. I have heard of problems with warranty repair if it came through Ireland best bet is to call ruag with serial numbers. If you have only owned it for a short period your rfd should help to sort this out for you I hope you get it sorted
