arjimlad
The lie of the land is important, the trapper's position should be out of any possible line of fire, and if it is not possible for the trap to be sited back from the brow of the hill and out of the line of fire, this can be achieved at a distance by multiple bales of straw or something else which will absorb shot, depending on range etc. Be very careful and it is a good plan for the trapper to have some flag or something to wave rather than popping his head up over the obstacle. Markio
Sounds like a scenario you might find yourself in at a pheasant shoot surely? Beaters coming in toward the guns in a woods say (last Saturday flash back). Unless you mate is superman then there's no reason for him to be in the air too. If you're not comfortable with that then have the trap off to one side with a marked or natural border for your benefit, then you'll have a incoming/quartering target. Noddy without Bigears
To save money on a trap, get a good friend to run around holding the clay outstretched in his hand just below the brow of the hill, it not only saves on the cost of the trap but also on clays because the only one to be broken will be the ones you hit. You might lose one or two friends in the process but you can find new friends in any pub after about 8 pints.
