MC
Evening guys Maybe someone can offer me some advice. While beating on a shoot a couple a weeks ago my springer cut the end of his ear. This bled quite a lot and covered him in blood. I thought it had healed up. I took him beating today and the old wound came apart and bled for quite some time. When I got him home I washed him and the cleaned the cut. It is sort of healing up, but every time he shakes his head his ear starts to pour with blood. The actual cut is only about quarter of a inch long and on the inside of his ear cover. I do have a dog first aid kit but nothing in it seems appropriate for the end of an ear. Thanks in advance Martin
lurcherboy
Don't know if this is the done thing Martin but, I have seen superglue used before and have used it on myself when I have sliced a finger at work. I think NTTF will be your best bet and I am on a Cocker forum that has a resident vet so PM me if you want the link mate. LB
MC
Thanks LB, I did think of superglue but the stuff you have around the house isn't the same as they use in hospitals. The super glue 3 style does not allow blood to pass through so the skin will never heal correctly. The NOBs forum suggest wound powder but I have no idea where to get that or what it is. I don't know any friendly nurses either who could pinch me some from a hospital. I will try our local pets at home tomorrow if it isn't sorted as they have a resident vet. cheers
lurcherboy
I didn't know it had to be 'special' superglue. I have many slices that were repaired by it and nothing has fallen off yet. Mind you, I have never broken my banjo spring Best to play safe Martin in any case. LB

Markio
We use wound powder on the horses, you can get it in tack shops. You can also pick yourself up a riding crop for a weekends fun while you're in there.
harryhawk
Aurilmicine (spelling?), the spray farmers and vets use on wounds. Tha dog may have a purple ear but it will clear up quick. I think you can get it in a yellow cream aswell. Good luck Martin.

MC
Thanks for all your help everyone, I took Merlin to the vet tonight as his ear keeps bleeding. He has ruptured the main blood vessel than runs in the ear. As this is a wound which happened 3 weeks ago and has not healed properly they are going to stitch it on wednesday. This will mean that he will not be able to work on saturday but at least he will be sorted. Thanks guys
