Chef1982
I've never been out in the rain with my gun. I'm just wondering will the gun be ok or could it end up damaged/rusty?
shootgun
The guns are meant to be used outdoor, and outdoor sometimes is raining... Nothing will hapend with your gun if you give it a proper clean and a bit of gun oil after... B)
Chef1982
Ok thanks. I thought it a bit of a silly question really.
shootgun
No probs mate... just wipe it with a dry soft cloth , make sure is dry, and apply a thin layer of good quality gun oil...
fruity
I hate any of my guns getting wet, but as said above , give it chance to dry out naturally and a coat of gun oil before and after
Chef1982
What oil do you recommend? Is 3in1 no good just to create a barrier externally or is gun oil the better option? Also how often should my gun be serviced at the shop?
shootgun
Bisley or Parker Hale, are both very good gun oils... no need to service if is working properly... don't fix it, if it ain't broken...
Chef1982
Ok cool. My only issue with it is recoil but gonna upgrade to a gas gun
secretagentmole
I use Browning Legia, damned good gun oil in a spray
NIGHT SEARCHER
I use Abbey gun oil. And Bisley Silicone spray very good water repellent. Silicone oil will not damage rubber 0 ring seals in PCP Rifles. Rubber 0 ring seals do react to mineral based oils. They swell up. I hate getting any of my guns wet but **** happens when out hunting. If one of my guns gets really rained on. Has soon as i get home i will take the gun out of it`s stock just to make sure. There is no water trapped between the metal work and the stock. srspower
The answer is yes! Provided you ensure you clean your gun thoroughly afterwards taking the action out of the stock. Here is the proof:-
bullet1747
I've never been out in the rain with my gun. I'm just wondering will the gun be ok or could it end up damaged/rusty? Not been in the army then , just imagine if I had asked my sgt if my weapon would be alright in the rain while out in the fields
channa
He would probably have made you strip it after every exercise and clean it.
Chef1982
No never been In the army but I would have thought the guns would be slightly different to an air gun and cleaning it would be something done more often and in depth. I've since taken it out in the rain anyway so nuff sed.
smokinggun
3 in one is all I have ever used on my air rifles and shotguns for cleaning and oiling afterwards, my dad always told me all you need is a thin oil, my guns don't have any rust on them and the bores are mint.
