While on my fishing trip up in Suffolk a couple of weeks ago, when gutting the Cod that i caught i noticed that the livers looked the same as those in some of the Rabbits that i get, riddled with Fluke.

Have any of you seen this before & have you still eaten the fish which i did, thinking about it know maybe not a wise move as the flesh is not cooked for very long.

What do you think

I know they carry worms which cover the intestines and get into the flesh but FREEZING them before cooking destroys the worm and there will be no ill effect to you.

The worms will not live in the Human body anyway as the stomach acid we produce kills them off.

if its the worms then freeze the fish before cooking and it should be fine

Peltman,

Were these fish caught in close in shallow water, had this before and the skipper said theywere Ok, just called them red or rock cod. One we used to catch were in 15 - 20 ft of water close in on the rocks. Only got to fish for them if it was too ruf to go out on to the wrecks.

Seemed Ok to eat and I am still here .....
