Traztaz
Hello chaps, has anyone tried reloading Barnes TTSX 168 grain bullets in 308? If so some info would be great, as to loads etc and how you got on.
Dougy
What are you shooting with them ? I just remember some cowboy used some barnes bullets on Boar, he reckons he hit the Boar but it ran on. Not found he wasn't too happy, but thdn he wasn't a happy bunny at the best of times, lol.. fieldwanderer
Being fully copper, they're longer to achieve the same weight and therefore need a faster twist rate than the lead equivalent (generally speaking). That's as much as I know, I looked into them for .22-250. Being a larger caliber, I'd imagine its less critical but may be worth bearing in mind. Blunderbust
I am also looking at working up a load using these bullets but in 180 gr for my 300 win mag. You can get some load info from the Barnes web site.
Beretta28g
Theyre very good in 6.5x55 flavour when you can get them
njc110381
I'll second that. Or at least the standard TSX were very good. I'd imagine the TTSX are pretty similar. Very good at knocking things over but with limited bruising - I wonder if it has anything to do with there being no little lead fragments flying about? I found that the good jump to the lands that Barnes recommend really pulled the groups in for me. I think I was loading 50 thou off.
Blunderbust
That's right njc they recommend a jump of between 30 and 70 thou and advise a start at 50.
cleaner4hire
They reckon you should go lighter than you would normally use too. Everyone I have spoken to using them has used this principle and are ery happy performance wise.
Pothunter
Has anybody got any recent experiences or further thoughts on this (that is, on the performance of any Barnes factory round in .308 WIN, not on reloading them)?
Traztaz
Pothunter, I reloaded because the Groups with factory were very poor
