rcmh
Hi all, Really interested in starting crayfishing but don't know where to begin. Any thoughts on how to get started? Thanks Rob
twitchynik
A river or canal usually helps... PLENTY of information in here, search away.
TIGHTCHOKE
Contact the Environment Agency as you'll probably need to be licenced.
Bleeh
Contact the Environment Agency as you'll probably need to be licenced. When I last had dealings with the E.A over crayfish they really took there time, and because it's more a summer pursuit (when they are most active) I'd perhaps use the winter to make some traps and get around to it next year. Everything you need to know can be found here.
numpty
Upper River Great Ouse is full of them, if you leave bait on the bank they crawl out of the river to find it! Had one that must have been a mutant it was so big, hung onto my barble bait till the bitter end. I think Luton Angling club were using a contractor to remove some under licence last season. clayboster
e-bay for traps...cheap as chips, bait em up, lob em in, retrieve! ...enjoy your crays however you prefer em. p.s. i find spring/summer is best for bigger catches.
