Following on from the 20 bore topic, I've been thinking about getting a 20 for a while. My girlfriend can't lift my Lanber so a 20 bore is probably the best thing to get her (well me mainly, but you see where I'm coming from). We'd probably have somewhere in the region of £800 to spend, what would you guys recommend?

Hi Millomite, long time, anyway to your dilema, look for a 391 urika 20g semi, i got one for my mrs she loves it, actualy so do i, lovely tool mutli choke 28"/30" no problem with weight or recoil, another option would be the franchi, having used both extensivley i recomend you go for the Berreta.

No mention of semi-autos on the other thread, I don't think, Stuart.

Ditch the semi-auto option. Track down either a second-hand Beretta Silver Pigeon or a Miroku MK70. The Silver Pigeon is easily the best, and most elegant off-the-peg 20-bore. It just looks 'right' - the entire gun is made to proportionally fit the little yellow cartridge, rather than other manufacturers simply grafting 20b barrels onto a 12b action. The Beretta is also ridiculously popular with novices and experienced Guns alike.

I use an SKB O/U 20, a Beretta (as above) and an AYA sidelock 20. The Beretta kicks the behind out of most guns. The nicest 20 I've shot so far was a Browning B25 'Diana', but that's a wee bit over your planned budget!
