kent
This "Fox with a Rim Fire", Mentoring, AOLQ etc is a complete postcode lottery! Why the heck can they not all start singing from the same hymn sheet so we all know exactly where we stand? This is about the only post that makes good logic on here IN MY OPINION IT SHOULD BE PINNED AND ATTACHED EVERYTIME THIS QUESTION COMES UP! So that's only about 30 times a year. CharlieT
Whilst much less common for the average shooter, there are also Badger and seals with a specified minimum. I was of course talking sporting quarry species. However, whilst there is a minimum requirement for seals set by act of parliament I am not aware of any act specifically legislating requirements for badgers, other than the minimum required by the license but that's not the same thing as something defined by Act of Parliament. I think there is something in here about calibres/energy for Badgers, http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1992/51/contents for some reason 38g and 160ft lb are at the back of my mind...I could well be wrong, its a LONG time since I looked at this and don't have time now, I'm about to head off out, every now and again I have to do some work... Well done Dekers, that link does indeed point me to the legislation. I always like to know the ins and outs of firearms and wildlife legislation, so thanks for that. It says: (d) he uses for the purpose of killing or taking a badger any firearm other than a smooth bore weapon of not less than 20 bore or a rifle using ammunition having a muzzle energy not less than 160 footpounds and a bullet weighing not less than 38 grains. Charlie You know I think that could be useful for anyone who reached court to fight a rimfire application for fox (but I bet nobody has as the settlement would come on the steps I wager). The argument being purely biological is the fox heavier or more able to soak up punishment than a Badger?

I double checked both Acts (the other of course being http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1970/30 ) before posting my reply.
