Cranfield
I haven't been there for a while, but needed to try out a new gun today, so went and had 70 sporting clays. The grounds makeover is now complete and there were new traps on nearly all the stands, plus new control handsets (no more wobbly buttons and insulation tape). There were 8 sporting stands and they have a compact layout (used for weekend competitions I believe). The skeet has new traps and a new ball trap is about to be installed. As one of the few grounds with a 7 day licence, it is nice to see the new people (owners/partners ??) putting some investment and thought into the place. Well worth a visit. Jamie r
I popped up and did the fifty birds on Saturday, it is a lot better than it was a couple of years ago when I used to shoot there. The compact isn't yet up and running but the traps are being delivered for it in a couple of weeks time and then I think it will be open for practice too. There's still lots of improvements they plan to make at this ground which it really did need, but it is so much better already! They have gone into partnership with another gentleman win one of the skeet layouts who now is run as kx yes meet where I think they even do the American skeet with the eigth stand. Also they teamed up with the owner of greenfields (Canterbury) to do a 70bird sporting competition which looks as though it will now be a fairly regular thing. The next one being the 17th of November. Anybody that hasn't been there recently it's well worth a go as there isn't much else local :( Jamie
