tonker
I may be talking out of my proverbial, but I have the chance of a v/cheap landy. Old canvas back jobbie, but in quite reasonable nick. Somewhere stashed away in the old grey matter, I seem to think that I can remember someone saying that if you alter the back so it cannot be used normally then you can tax it as a tractor. No MOT and cheap insurance. Now in my infinite wisdom I was wondering about making a removable seat and lamping set up that could be used for foxing at night. Do any of you know if this is correct? any of you got a landy tractor. could be a cracking setup and a v/cheap shooting waggon. Thanks for any advice. tonker
delburt0, I would presume you are right, I have my disco for everyday work and travel. This would for me, be an out and out shooting truck/ tractor. I could use it for towing my pig trailers around, and to slaughterhouse, if they wanted a reason for having it. living in hope

ferguson_tom
I think it can be done without modification but there are big limitations when classed as agricultural mainly to do with mileage you can travel from its base the only real advantage i could see is not needing an MOT and tax. Depending on its age it may be tax exempt but if not then it that will only be 200ish quid and if its your second car and assuming your not 18 years old the insurance should be dirt cheap around £100. For the sake of under £400 a year i wouldnt bother unless it was particularly rusty and difficult to get through an MOT.
aga man
if the said landy is to be used as a shooting/lamping truck only why not just tow it on a trailer behind your disco,to your permission. i can't imagine a v/cheap landy being in a very good road worthy condition.
