Dropped the owner of my permission off a box of chocs today and he gave me a piece of land I have been after for a while. Saw duck, pigeon, partidge and pheasant. Shot pigeon, partridge and pheasant. Never seen so many partridge though. Must have put up sixty in a single flock

You are a smooth operator Jim, but it seems to have worked. :good:

It seems to have been a good breeding year for most things, 80% of the pigeons I am shooting are young birds and we also have a very healthy population of ducks, partridge and pheasants this year, some clearly second broods.

It has been a good year but the down side to is that the vermin has also had a successful year. It's the first year in a long time where we seem to have had seasons. Cold winter, mild spring and a good summer which in turn has provided everything a good start in life. It's been nice to see things having a better time of it as the last couple of years has been so wet that a lot of things suffered badly with disease etc. Nice to see wild broods doing so well.

Nice one Jim! :good: Don't forget the obligatory "bottle of something nice" at Christmas.

I have decided that 50 plus is a flock. Covey is too small a word. I think your right cranners. Everything, especially the pigeons seems to have had a good year. I am seeing almost twice the number of them as I did last year. Had no duck at all last year but they seem to be on my flight ponds this year. I am wondering if they are getting pressured from the numbers and older birds
