malkiserow
I love a bit of hare but the Mrs hates it. So remembering cooking in CokeCola again from another thread last week, I thought I would try the coke trick on hare.....(sweeter and less gamey) and cook it in the slow cooker. But what else to add or perhaps nothing else ...? Any advice welcome please girls and boys

Fatcatsplat
Only game I really can't get on with - Tried it every which way but just don't like it. Having said all that, if I use coke as a marinade, I generally mix it with tinned tomatoes, minced garlic, chilli and chopped coriander. henry d
Ever tried ham cooked in coke? Really good even though I hate coke as a drink!!!!!! Yes, but ham is a totally different meat, the meat of a hare is dark and suits heavier flavours, Juniper, Rosemary etc. Sweetness is a bit OTT I feel for hare. Blunderbuss
I despise coke as a drink, but was cajoled once, very reluctantly, to cook a ham in cherry coke :o A Nigella recipe I think, it sounded rank However, it was absolutely superb , glazed with marmalade or redcurrant jelly ISTR, and studded with cloves. You couldn't really taste the coke thankfully, but the ham was moist, sweet and perfectly cooked. henry d
Make it into a steak pie by dredging the meat in seasoned flour then fried fast and then adding red wine/Guinness and root veg before encasing in pastry....job done...
