CheatingRabbit
Hi It is a really stupid question, so I thought I'd look a **** here than at the RFD's! I need to send my gun for a repair/modification that will take over 72 hours. This will be handled through a RFD, but what is the procedure from a paperwork point of view? I assume that the gun is taken off my SGC and signed into the RFD's register, but am I required to notify the plod that the gun is off my ticket (and the reverse when I get it back). Is there any other bits that I need to do? Thanks CR
Gordon R
Speak to the Firearms Team. Some you can notify by e-mail.
robbiep
I'm pretty sure (but not absolutely certain) that putting a gun into an RFD for seervice / repair does not count as a transfer that is notifiable to the police. The RFD issues a receipt showing that they have the gun (serial No, etc), and that is all.
HDAV
It will need to go onto RFD internal register but no concern to you, it's still your gun and no need iirc to notify plod as not a transfer of ownership.

Gunman
RFD will enter your details into his register ,he will also book it back out to whom so ever the gun goes to for repair .should he send it out . When the gun id returned to you it will be booked out from his register to you . That is all that is necessary , there is no need for receipts unless you request one , you do not need to do anything else . Should the police require to know the where abouts of the gun refer them to the RFD in question . That's it .

HDAV
I agree get a receipt, it's not unknown for customers guns to go missing (Litts...), but is rare.
