Having used old glass milk bottles with a dab of white paint round the neck, about 40 years ago, I know most things will work on their day. :)

Gotta say your not wrong there Cranfield, but like many of us even well versed in fieldcraft there are days when the birds are around but no matter what they just will not decoy even with real birds out, winter rape can be one of the most frustrating crops to watch hundreds pass by with very little interest in the decoys.

They are the days I like to have the tricks , decoys and gizmos to try and get the beggars to commit.

Its a topic that interests me this, i personally feel that like any other creature the pigeon has evolved. iv read topics on this and there are some very well respected shooters that agree that they have evolved. they are more savvy these days, i cant say this for a fact but in my belief a milk bottle could not sit in the same league as a good decoy. this may not of been the case years back. pigeons seems to have a better scene of danger these days and i personally think people don't give a wood pigeon enough credit in the old brain department.

dead birds are always the best decoy of all, why is this ??? why do they out perform any decoy on the market ?? its a good question i think
