chacotawas
A friend of mine (Central Scotland) submitted his application for a licence- shotgun only. It was an uncomplicated application- he's a mature person, a pillar of the community type, with no health or other issues. After 6 weeks he was contacted and it was clear that nothing had by then been done about his application. In the 7th. week he was told it would be another 4 to 6 weeks before he received his ticket. Possibly 13 weeks to grant a shotgun certificate! How does this compare with other forum members' experiences, I wonder?

Jonno243
When was his application made chacotawas? I know that they were short staffed earlier this year due to illness within the dept, maybe they are still catching up? If I remember correctly I think I was around 6 weeks for a variation and change of address.

I'm not surprised to hear that they've had difficulties such as those you refer to. We'd be the last to criticise the Police service( excellent around here in our experience), or any other public service, come to that, given the onerous constraints under which they're now forced to operate. It did seem an amazingly long time though, and I was interested to know how long it took in other parts of the UK. Seems to compare very favourably with Co. Durham for a start.
