  1. that is fantastic! they're one of the most tasty (and beautiful) fish out there, savour them - I remember eating my first caught.
  2. Saw these a while ago, I don't know if this has been posted before. I read that one of the ideas behind the ports is to create a lubricating layer between the bullet and the barrel to increase velocity...because that would be so helpful... http://www.guns.com/2011/12/20/the-comp-bullet-the-bullet-that-comps/

    Watches?

I have bought a few recently : Breitling Navitimer, Tissot PR100 and a vintage oysterdate. Got my eye on an air king, reverso or speedmaster... I agree the most functional watch may be a £50 job with the necessary bells and whistles, but I certainly don't wear a watch just to tell the time!

    Hardy's rod

I went to a local antique shop a few years ago and noticed a few old fly rods, upon asking how much the guy wanted for them he said I could have them for free as he didn't think he was going to sell them (odd seeing as I was offering to buy them, I guess I had that 12 year old charm) and I later found at home that one of them is a salmon rod from the hardy brothers. I checked recently how old it is and it was made in the year 1900. Still useable, full set of eyes, no cracks etc but the wire detailing that runs from end to end has rusted and come off in some places. My questions are: is it likely to be worth anything? Is it likely to be worth getting it refurbished? If so, where could it be done? To be honest I think it is a lovely rod regardless of its value and I don't mind much investing in getting it touched up even if it's value doesn't increase proportionally.
  14. I don't wish to argue, but look at the circumstances surrounding Dresden. The military target was a railway, granted, but the most damage was caused to the inner city, home to several hundred thousand refugees, women and children, mostly burned from incendiary bombs, whilst the garrison on the outskirts of the city remained relatively untouched. The fact that Churchill tried to distance himself from it shows that even one of the chief coordinators of the bombing saw that it was immoral to raze a cultural city and kill civilians under the guise of attacking military targets. Again, I am not comparing the morality of bombing and death camps, just stating that the Allies weren't completely clean either.
  15. I wasn't comparing bombing with death camps, but the effects. I'm jewish and german and both things affected both sides of my family.
  16. wasn't just the allies that had to experience things like that at the liberation of the death camps, my grandfather aged 15 spent 3 days (along with his friends) lining up and identifying 600 dead bodies after the allies carpet bombed his hometown. I'm not excusing the death camps but there are two sides to a war.
  17. decent s/h watch or if he shoots, a gun maybe?
  18. it seems there are a couple of american scope attachments retailing around the $100 mark, are there any english ones?
  19. Now my exams are over I'm going to look into designing an iphone attachment for scope and shotgun in the school DT department.
  20. I've already had a poke around on google maps but I'm afraid I haven't much experience in looking at shoots from the air, so I don't know what to look for
