Outlander
Hi, anybody got any ideas how to make a few drinkers to put with feeders on a (very) small shoot please?. Cheers Outlander

Paul223
A five gallon drum cut in half length ways / a 45 gallon deep plastic drum lid / the end of a 45 gallon drum cut about 2 to 3 inch deep all with a full five gallon drum up ended into it
scotslad
If u can get the old fashioned square 5 gallon drum cut those in half and a normal more modern 5 gallon drum will stand upside down in it, like wot paul has said above U could try a few mini auto drinker systems, i just use a 30-50 gallon drum as a tank with a sheet of tinto catch rainwater nad then just plumb it in Ur licky u need drinkers our shoot is like a bog this time off year
malantone
don't forget to drill a small hole at the base of the threaded neck in the reservoir barrel which stands upside down in a half barrel, this maintains a depth of about 1.5 inches of water. Paul223
I find just leaving the cap off will suffice
Outlander
Thanks for replies, a friend of mine took me round his small shoot, he has no drinkers near his feeders so i mentioned this is why his birds had wandered. outlander
Paul223
Could be, if he's gona use the 5 gallon drum then two holes drilled opposite each other in the half drum section will allow a bungee strap to hold the water drum in place through most wind, and a tiny amount of virkon s will keep the water fresh
bodach
I use drums with drink nipples supplied by Solway feeders, birds use them straight away and it stops dirt and slim, water lasts a lot longer by keeping clean and good if you need to add any medicine etc., Nipples £1.25 ea four to a drum, if you need to carry water to your feeders these save a lot of waste and time. MBW
We used to just cut about eight inches off the bottom of a big plastic drum, leaving a decent sized "tab" on it big enough to fit a tap and ball cock on to and to connect the alkathene pipe on from the outside. Reasonably cheap and easy to maintain
