Albert 888
Hi all my front shock has gone, and the rest arnt great. What do i do do i replace all 4 for standard types and spring or go up rated. Im not made of money and the disco is solid but not pretty,so no use spending loads on it.I have seen kits for around the £200 mark has anyone any recomendations as what to go for. The car is standard weight running standard size goodyear wranglers,so dont need a lift kit type one. Oh and i will add i do use quite a bit off road on green lanes but also on the motorway. Cheers Albert.

aga man
why not just change the shocks for some decent standard type ones and use the existing springs. try here http://www.lrparts.net/vehicle/discovery-1.html not sure how bad britpart shocks are but i have fitted plenty of britpart gear[including propshafts etc] to all my disco's with no problems. MITCHF
I put gas shocks all round on mine and heavy duty springs on the rear I did the same, great option.

What's wrong with them? Most people call them Sh*tpart Having said that some of their stuff is alright, my local independent dealer will only sell certain things. I won't use their rads, wheel bearing's or water pump. Some time's you buy cheap, you pay twice.

fendrover90
Bearmach springs and pro comp shocks are a good budget upgrade be it lifted or standard Edited November 25, 2013 by fendrover90
Albert 888
Cheers again guys, fit the uprated 2" lift medium weight springs and gas shocks and the disco is a whole new beast to drive, feels more like a car than a soggy wet sponge. Mind you I had to set about the job with a 9" grinder and sliting disc to remove the front springs and shocks. Many thanks Albert. landy george
Doe's your steering feel ok. When I did my 90 the back end wanted to skip every time it got to a roundabout but then it is shorter. The problem is because you've swivelled the axle, the transfer box is higher & changed the steering angle. All your bushes will wear different as the arms are at the wrong angle to the chassis. Steering is spot had it tracked after renewing the track rod ends and steering damper, also changed the drop links. The steering was shocking before but now very god and positive. The cornering has vastly improved also. The radious bushes need changing next as never got round to it. For a 2 ton plus agricultural 4x4 Im impressed.
