Hi there Tarka. I'm not sure there's many on this site from down here (seemes to be mainly northerners with dodgy accents :yp: ).

I've got myself a bsa lightning (will get onto the big toys when I can afford them) and use it to clear up sinus problems for rabbits ???

haha yeah i only use my AAS410 at the moment, waiting for the firearms officer to come around so i can get my shotgun!

So your from weymouth? i have some family from there

i'm from yeovil which is right on the dorset border, does that count??

yeah id say yeovil counts! I might be getting an underkeeper in sherborne soon which is pretty closei think isnt it?

well....close...not a million miles away!!

>well i am from piddletrenthide, nr dorchester

Whilst we are talking about small villages in the middle of nowhere, my deer stalking permission is about 5 mins up the road from piddlerenthide and I always laugh when I see that sign <_<

Like Puddletown and Piddlehinton!

Just north of Poole.

I'm looking to branch out from my usual shoots as they are pretty dry and i'm bored with not having anyone to shoot with.

So I'm Interested in any Rat shoots if anyone wants a shooting buddy or knows someone with a vermin problem near here.

Have Night vision scope with video recording and Night vision scouting monical for checking the field, So won't scare any livestock, local wildlife or residents.

Also have PIR Digital trail camera, IR camcorder, Wireless IR cameras and monitors. handy as I can identify the heaviest runs and track the Rats back to their remote nests without spooking them. very useful !

BASC trade member, may soon be NPTA member aswell so fully insured.

Happy to do all nighters and help on paid jobs for free (as long as there is good shooting and cups of tea !)

Let me know

Im from Dorchester,

Just applied for my shotgun licence after shooting with my boss for far to long and using his toys!

Practicing with clays at the moment up at Southern Counties Shooting Ground, but hope to expand my horizons when i actually start to hit the blinking things!

While im here does anyone have any proven ways of overcoming incorrect eye dominance? Ive tried shooting from the left shoulder and i cant get to grips with it so the only way i can hit anything is by shutting my left eye.

Any advice would be really appreciated

Ello me old zoiders,

also from Yeovil. Just waiting for my SGC to turn up, but try to shoot at the clay grounds as much as possible (with instructor). Would like to do a bit of rough shooting and pigeons etc, maybe try a driven day just to see what it's like but it's not really hunting in my book, so it's probably not my bag.

Borries,

think we've crossed paths before on here, maybe a meetup at Southern Counties is in order some time as we're both relative newbies? we can make excuses and curse together then!! - I've got the same problem with cross dominance. It was an issue to begin with but I've got used to picking up the target with both eyes and then closing the left as I mount the gun. Actually shot a pretty decent round last week so the lessons are paying off! I'll PM you when my cert turns up, if yours hasn't arrived by then you're welcome to use my gun for the day if you're up for a shoot.

cheers

SL

little of subject i'm afraid.

I am a yorky. but if I had my time over and the chance to live anywhere in the uk it would be dorset.

superb fishing, high pheasants, thousands of bunnies, deer, and H,F,W

what more can a man want.

watching the makerel feeding of the harbour at west bay, I could go on forever.

plus dorset way of life.

50 years behind the rest of the uk.

Man you have it all.

Hey Borries, looks like you got in there before me then chap, still waiting for mine!! :good: 4 months and counting... Dorset are a lot quicker than Somerset though from what I've heard, wish I lived 3 miles away across the border! Will give you a shout when I have my gun and join you for a round.

Peter, you've got that right sir, it's a fantastic part of the world. If we had a decent salmon river it would be just about paradise...

cheers

Southern Lad,

4 months!!! You are joking arent you?

I had my inspection within 2 weeks of posting my application and then 10 days after the SGC was through the door :good:

Its crazy that you are a few miles up the road and youre still waiting.

Times a bit short for me this month as baby due any day now so November will be better.

Keep in touch and as soon as youre sorted we will have a shoot.

Not any more as I was an Air Force brat, but the nearest place we called home was Gussage St Michael, between Salisbury and Blandford Forum - happy days on the chalk downs with a home-made 4:10 pistol :yp:

A great part of the country. :good:
