vole
I have just got my cert after 8 weeks and bagged couple woodies as they flew past on a flight path.I hope to increase my bag by a few more so put down a few flock decoys but apart from hesitating, all birds flew past.Is this because the farm I shoot on is not crops? Can I expect them to come down onto grassy meadows?I think I was fairly well hidden in cammo gear.Wonder if a hide would help.Thanks.can see why you guys are so enthusiastic, great hobby. Hi This time of year you could get some good shooting under flightpaths as the pigeon are not really hitting the rape yet. So if you can get a good flightpath between woods you could have some good shooting. Unless, the birds are feeding on clover it is not really worthwhile decoying on a grass field. As you have shot some pigeon you are doing something right so stick with it, watch the forum and you will get tips from some of the good pigeon shooters on here. Just my opinion of course, others with more experience will give you a better lowdown on Pigeon shooting this time of year. Tiercel
vole
Thanks.I suppose it is not likely to work if you put decoys on a field with nothing but grass.I bought an acme crow call,is it worth trying if things are quiet on the pigeon front? Cranfield
As kirky says, meadows with clover pull pigeons, I have shot some large bags on clover. If there is clover on your meadows, find a sheltered area and set up a hide.
