She's 10 now and slowing down a little. She pointed these woodcock for me a day ago in thick brush. Here is a better look at an American woodcock. Do they fly the same, in a zig-zag pattern? They are definitely smaller than the European woodcock. They pass through Virginia in mid November and are mostly gone by mid January.
