hi guys I am looking for advice on my application for fac, we are all cleared by the famers and have everything we need apart from two things. 1) both my dad and I are applying I am 17 and he is in his 40's, we want only two rifles .22 and .223 between us, is there any way we could have these shared on the certificate. both of us will have times we shoot separately so we both need the licence but the funds are lacking to each have out own set is there a legal way to share on the certificates? 2) as I already mentioned I am 17 so the 4 shotguns that I have bought through my dads SGC and are lent onto mine, do these have to be declared on the FAC form as they are only lent? thanks for your time guys

As for the shot guns if you have a word with the police they be ok as when my father was alive I asked if I could put his guns on my ticket to save problems when the sad day comes and they were very helpful and also after he passed away as the guns on my cert just had to move cabinet and they came and looked job was a good'n no problems at all.

From what you say you have an SGC and there should be no problem sharing the ownership as long as you specify which will be in who's cabinet - largely so the police can find them. As long as they are all (shotgun details) on the relevant/both certs, thats fine even if they are not on both you are allowed to lend/borrow a shotgun for 72 hours but tell the police how you want it to be.

With regards FAC, if neither have had a Section 1 firearm before, I'd let your dad apply for the .223 and ask for permission to keep it on both certs but to stay at your Dads cabinet and you get the .22 on your cert and then you can move up to your own .223. Nothing to suggest you couldnt get one but it may initially be easier that way, depends on the FEO.

Ask for coterminous SGC and FAC as its easier and I think still saves a few quid.

Good shooting and let us know what your FEO says - might be wise to join a shooting organisation as you apply - just in case youu need any help with the application.

Dekers- just with the comment saying that shotguns have nothing to do with FAC, the new form requires you to list if you own any shotgun

Shotguns can be lent to another SGC holder for up to 72 hours with no police notification being made, if you have a SGC and they are lent longer then they should be on your SGC and entered in a manner that says lent.

The old FIR 101 (FAC application) asked if you had a SGC as well, but there was no requirement to list them.

Are you saying you have to itemise all your shotguns on the NEW FAC application form?

If they are not entererd on your SGC then I see no reason to mention them on the NEW FAC application.

they are entered on my sgc under it saying lent so do you know if I still have to list them on the application

Are you saying you have to itemise all your shotguns on the NEW FAC application form?

Then old style FIR 101 simply asked if you had a SGC.
