tlennox
I have a really old hammer gun, that I was given by someone not renewing the certificate. It's quite badly pitted and I don't fancy shooting it, I was just going to hand it in but my old man wants it to mount with some old paper carts as it's quite a tidy looking gun. How much should I expect to pay to get it deactivated and what is the process, thanks in advance. Tony
welshwarrior
Give Wabbit Bosher a shout he offers this and all his services are reasonable.
saddler
You can legally do the chopping/cutting work yourself then have the gun submitted to one of the Proof Houses for a deactivation certificate. If the condition is as bad as you say it may be out of proof anyway so can come off ticket without too much drama Edited January 24, 2014 by saddler
bostonmick
if I remember correctly I was thinking about doing this once but the cost was to much it worked out about 180.

Gunman
There is quite a lot of work involved in deactivation ,I recon around £75 pus the proof house certification fee of £35[?] . The cost of sending to proof and back as a one off could set you back another £50 . Not a job I like or want to do .
