Sprackles
I went with octagon last year after finding them on the meerkat. Renewal came through and they were still the cheapest when compared so no meerkat this time around.
Grazy
I spend a morning, once every 6 months calling round to review premiums and always make a saving. Whether it's Sky or the gas/elec. the best one this year was the car ins which I got for £340 for fully comp on a merc A class and range rover sport on Admiral multicar. Saved over £500. Fisherman Mike
You have to watch Admiral they are very cute.. I recently wanted to insure a Clio for my son on a multicar policy.. its one the wife, daughter and I share as a general run-around so I rang them up and asked what the ADDITIONAL premium would be to add him aged 19 on a provisional licence to the policy as a named driver so I could take him out. Bear in mind that the policy was due for renewal the day previously but there was a 14 day cooling off period before the first premium was taken. The young lady the other end came back with a sum of £946 extra and expected me to agree straight away which would have meant the total policy would be £1400 for me the wife, daughter and him. What she didn't realise was I had already had already generated a quote with him as the insured and main driver through compare the market and the best quote was £852 with me and the wife as named drivers. When I declined the quote she got a bit assy with me when I told her that I had a quote of a lesser value in his name.. she didn't believe me I think, and suggested that I keep a note of the reference number of the quote she had given me, presumably because she was confident I would ring back. I asked if she had taken the multicar discount into account ( which incidentally isn't as good a deal as they make out ) and she said that it did ... I then hit her with the coup .... she asked who had given me the other quote... and I replied "YOU DID...." she still didn't believe me until I gave her the online reference for it but she still couldn't do it for the same rate... and I then had every excuse under the sun why not...."In that case then I will cancel the policy for that car, and add this one to it and you can then adjust it for the multicar discount." "No cant do that"..."Why not?"... "err err, that's a one off online deal"... "In that case I will just cancel the policy"..."err err OK, but you will have to pay a cancellation fee"..."Why ? there's a 14 day cooling off period"..."err err that doesn't apply to existing policies which are renewed"... "are you sure?" "err err.. just a minute I will just run all his details through again"....... Bingo miraculously a discount suddenly appeared which meant that the lad would be added to the policy for about an extra £600 and not the £946 they originally wanted. I still cancelled though as a matter of principle the lad may be paying more on this individual policy but at least he is the proposer and the main driver and starts accruing no claims discount which he wouldn't have done with the other policy.. Never heard a word from them about cancellation fees.

secretagentmole
My mother just received an Eastern European immigrant when she set up her new car insurance and I quote Since you got car insurance he has travelled 2,482 miles by stork to land at your doorstep today! He likes eating mashed scorpions, being sing to sleep and enjoys laughs at Sergei!
old rooster
House insurance is up for renewal so in comes the standard automatic renewal letter. Just phoned to cancel the renewal and was asked if I would like the price looked at, went ahead with that and ended up from £419.76 auto renewal figure down to £294.68. I make that a saving of £125.08 which, as the call took about 2 minutes works out at a rate of £3752.40 an hour!! Once I add the saving from that to all the other insurances throughout the year and other annually recurring costs I reckon I'm pushing towards a grand saved. Take that grand saved as requiring 2 grand in earnings and it all starts to look very worthwhile.
Psyxologos
also Admiral count a speed awareness course against you even tho the police don't and insist on all the dates etc. Just like a fixed penalty. Are you sure it is a speed awareness course and not a driver's awareness course? My wife had a Speed awareness course, I told them (in writing and over the phone) and they confirmed it makes no difference.
