HDAV
How many guns have you had? Surely you must have realised what 'fitted' you from previous experiences? I'd have thought your 525 would 'fit' like a glove? Not owned many, a cheap midland OU i got when i first got cert and sold when i found i needed to shoot left handed and my grandfathers SxS i inherited, so really my 525 which i have shot exclusively for 4 years pretty much. Does that surprise you? 525 fits really nicely but at DTL it does slap me in the face.... Something i'm hoping to avoid.

No surprises there. Surely if the 525 fits really nicely it wouldn't slap you in the face? Maybe a good coach could sort it out for you? Must be some in your neck of the woods, try googling them, I'm sure someone can help.

That's the odd thing it does fit had it checked, only happens at trap, as it shoots quite flat I have to basically block the bird (I was previously tending to shoot over the top) Raising the comb would do it and may be the only option if I can't find a suitable trap gun. As I said the advantage of a second gun is there. PM me if you know of someone particular in this neck of the woods. I would use someone different to check it or go off what you think feels right rather than someone else telling you what fits, a gun should not slap you in the face no matter what type of target you are shooting. If a gun is slapping you in the face then either it doesn’t ‘fit’ or the mount is bad and if the mount is bad anyone who claimed to know about ‘making sure it fits’ should have picked it up first before saying the gun fits to a bad mount. There are plenty of DTL type targets on reg sporting shoots so if you are having trouble shooting DTL with your 525 then that needs addressing first before buying a 2nd gun IMHO. Azzurri
Not worrying, just getting fed up of the smack in the chops it keeps giving me............ Hoping a higher comb will stop me lifting my head..... (only happens when i shoot trap) If the gun is slapping you about its probably too long in the stock and/or too low in the comb also.... Eh? Are you saying he fitted yours? If that's the case it's YOU who should be telling him he doesn't know how to fit a gun...as from what you've said yours doesn't 'fit'. If it was up to me I'd have an adjustable comb fitted and be done with it.

When he's stood next to me I hit more than I miss, I'll be going for another lesson soon as I can arrange one. I like the idea of an adjustable comb hence why I'm looking for one just on a different gun for reasons already stated found the perfect one on paper but its RH...and a tad too much money but I'll see if I can go and shoot it and take it from there.
