fern01
Does anyone know what happens if you accept a credit card payment for goods or services over the phone and the card turns out to have been used fraudulently? Do you lose the payment? I am a bit worried I might get my fingers burnt here.
KFC
Silly question but do you have the means to process the payment?
castletyne
Not if you are setup to accept card not present payments The terminal requires you to enter things like customers address If you then delivered goods to a different address you may be liable
p@cman
What castletyne said If the card verification process was followed (entering address details, 3 digit code on reverse of card) and you were given an authorisation number from the card terminal, then you should be ok as long as you sent goods to the cardholders registered address. HDAV
If its a fraudulent transaction then yes you loose the money. If you can prove you followed all of the processors procedures (Code 10 still around?) you may be ok.
