Gully
Weirdest bus shelter I've ever seen. Don't think you should be touting your gun around like that in the street!

stevethevanman
What carts were you using and what range was it at and also is that A Berreta 302 Semi-auto you have there, could be wrong?
il cacciatore
It was Clever Mirage T2 High Velocity 36g No.3 shot. (http://www.clevervr.com/index.html?) Cant remember the range, I think it was quite close. The guns a Beretta AL391 Urika.
stevethevanman
with 36g of No3 in the barrel what the hare was like to eat I dont know, but for rabbiting I use 30g 6's and at close range that snookers'em well enough let alone 36g of 3's
il cacciatore
I don't wish to get into a debate of appropriate cartridge sizes. The meat was absolutely fine. Let me ask you, do you go shooting hare (which are bigger than rabbit) with No 6s?

Suffolk shooter
It's always been recommended to me to shoot Hare's with No 4's regardless of gram. the other thing I was told is always take them either in front or as a crosser, never as a going away target as like all quarry, difficult to hit a vital area, and the screaming that eminates can be akin to a baby/small child. Regardless of what shot size or gram cartridge you use, your first priority is to ensure that whatever you use, a clean kill or miss will be the end result. il cacciatore, I must agree that is a small one, but then again I don't know how big you are in real life. Did you weigh it at all? I think i'm right in saying that on average an adult female Hare will weigh between 6.5 - 7.5lb and an adult male Hare weighs between 8.0 - 10lb. Of course, you will get ones that are bigger than either sex as well as ones that are smaller. It all depends on the type of terrain, climate and food available. il cacciatore
I agree that its best to ensure a clean kill thats why I went for No.3s, I think it would be irresponsible to suggest that anything small such as No.6s be used. I knew I was specifically going for hare as that farm has loads of them so I used the appropriate cartridge I thought was best at the time. The hare wasn't the biggest I'll admit (it wasn't the smallest either) but in the spur of the moment you don't always have the chance to estimate it's size. It was shot, it was big enough for a hearty meal and it was a clean kill so I'm satisfied I conducted myself in a proper and careful manner. I did and do have a game license edit - In hindsight I would have used a smaller cartridge but at the time the shop didn't have any No.4s. stevethevanman
Some people use 14g 6's through a 410 for rabbits, I think 6's are perfectly capable of killing hares, but every cartridge has it's limits, so one that will kill at a given range one might not kill at a diffrent range, Were I shoot I use 6's for every thing: pigeon, rabbit, pheasant when I get the chance and hare, I will use some 4's in the future and tell you how I got on , All the rabbits and hares on my land dont eceed 30yds so I can use 6's as they are not that far of. Ferretboy111
They say use shot size 4's but i mean me and my mate shot 9 one weekend 2 years ago using 6's 32grm, and that trimmed them up very easily. Alex
