digger
Going for cod out of Hastings in the morning if there are any left. Intend to release any I catch if they are returnable. It will be my first time out on my mates new boat, an all singing all dancing fishing platform with all the toys. Looks like a fairly calm day in the Channel thank god as i get seasick on a canoe. We are heading for a place called " The Hole " which sounds good. Will post a report and any pics tomorrow. Those on the kent coast keep an eye out for a green looking bloke driving a dirty mondeo
digger
The day from hell. Launched at nine from Newhaven instead of Hastings and were advised there was " a bit of a swell " . As we left the harbour charter boats were coming home having left at eight, not a good sign. Rough just doesnt cover it, a huge swell not even 200 yds from shore and past the shelter of the harbour wall it was even worse. We slipped anchor and took ages to get into the lee of the wall but were moved on by a dredger just as fish were showing on the finder. Back to the slip to get the boat in only to have to wait two hours for the tide to come in. My head is still spinning now and when I close my eyes all I can see is the swell. Grand total for reliving the perfect storm ? Not even a bite
Catamong
digger, Yes....been there, done that....it's so frustrating and that's why I gave up Sea fishing to concentrate on shooting, perhaps I'll give it a go in a few years time when fish stocks have recovered..?? Lord Geordie
I used to fish of a friends boat from Amble and NEVER failed to catch. I know where your comming from with the Swell too. We were looking at the reports for flat to slight and after 2 hours out the swell was over 5 feet We didn't even have to jig the rods it was that bad. Of course it's ALWAYS good to ground bait the area with Breakfast Still managed to get a few good Mackrell a couple of Rock cod and some pollack. Good day out and after time to find my Land legs a trip to the chipshop to replace my lost breakfast LG
