Subaru_sti5
Afternoon all, just wondering if anyone has any experience/views on the hawke scopes in particular the eclipse 30 sf 6-24 x 50? Cheers
NickB65
I have used a few Hawke scopes and I must admit I have found them very good for the money. Used them on PCP .177 air rifles and they did what it said on the tin. Build quality was good, light capture was good and the adjustments were spot on. They say you should pay as much as you can afford on a scope but with modern developments and production lines many of the cheaper scopes are as good as some of the more expensive scopes. What are you going to use it on, is this target shooting or game shooting, day time or dusk/dawn and to what distances?
Subaru_sti5
Thanks, I'm looking for something to put on a .308 and will be used mainly for deer, early mornings so not great light conditions but also will use for target shooting but nothing competitive distance wise proabably nothing further than 2-300 yards at the moment. Thanks
NickB65
Well it is certainly built for the job and I can not fault the scope but then I used them on kit the other end of the scale. I was going for a Hawke for the .22lr but when I was on the Uttings site they had a Nikko Stirling Gameking going for a good price with the LRX reticule and I did not hesitate. I do not think you will go wrong for that money.

jason kaye
I had a Hawke Endurance 30 3-12x50 with the L4 ret on my .270, it was spot on and well up for the job, but I've got to admit it's the only one in the Hawke range I've tried. Jase.
Deiseboy
hawke endurance 3-12x56 is very good in low light. the eclipse should be just as good if you keep it on 8x or there abouts in very low light, probably not so good in very low light on 16x. Subaru_sti5
Thanks for your view jase, I'm now looking at the sidewinder 6-24x56 as I prefer the target style turrets over the screw cap type but at £300 I'm wondering if there is something better out there! So much choice out there.
V8 90
I have a Hawke 6-24x56 Sidewinder on my Hmr - excellent for the ££'s + it's never lost zero I also have a Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical Elite on a .204 - excellent scope but not cheap !! Dekers
Cheers v8 I'm definatly leaninh towards the sidewinder now I think. I have 2 x Sidewinders, one of the old and one of the latest. They are very averagely ok, reasonable value for money, the latest version is better than the old. No particular criticism or compliments, the only real comment I have is that they are not light, so be mindful of this in the gun setup.
