sandersj89
Calling all AA410 owners, what pressure in the tank equals the sweet spot of the rifle? OK, I know this is dependant on many factors such as pellet used and so on but as a general rule where do you think this rifle performs at it’s best and how many good usable shots do you get at the sweet spot pressure? Also at what pressure indicated on the rifles gauge to you fill at and to what pressure? Thanks Jerry

pin
Get a crono for about £30 and find out for yourself For me I wouldn't fill past 180bar and probably fill up when its showing what could be anything from 100-120bar. Your mileage will vary depending on a lot of factors, but you should be able to tell if you conduct a simple test. Bench rest the gun solidly and zero it at say 30 yards. Rested without wind you should be cloverleafing pellets @ 30 yds. Then, fill it to the max and shoot. Keep notes on how it was when full, and then say every 5 shots keep a record of what's happening. You will be able to notice it when its full, and when power is dropping, the shots will fall low @ 30 yds.
stevethevanman
Someone said to me that the gun is only allows itself to be filled to 190bar, I checked this out and he was right, many people fill there AA410's to 200bar when the gun only allows itself to be filled to 190bar pressure, I stop the air bottle when the gauge hits 190bar. SPARKIE
i fill mine to 190 but onthe tank it says max fill 200 i then shoot around 10 shots makeing sure zero is ok at a few diff ranges on it performs well never have any problems with missing theres mine <-
stevethevanman
We saw that as well but it operates at 190bar the most you can fill it to is 200bar.

The reason for asking is I am very happy with the rifle at 150 - 170BAR where I get about 30 or so full power shots (after the first few that can be a bit wild) which are tack drivers off a bipod at 30m. So far I have pushed about 500 pellets through it since October. Once I get to 140-130BAR things start to drop off. I am just wondering what other peoples experience is so I can maximize the air in the divers bottle and make sure I am getting the same performance as others. Jerry i fill mine to 190 but onthe tank it says max fill 200 i then shoot around 10 shots makeing sure zero is ok at a few diff ranges on it performs well never have any problems with missing theres mine <- Thanks, That seems to back up my experience, thought at 100BAR it seems to be on the low side power wise. Hard to tell until my chrono turns up..........only ordered it neary 3 weeks ago!!!!!!! Jerry
SPARKIE
100 bar was what i was told to refill at but as i said i allways recharge before going out and to get it down to 1oo on a hunt i would have to take 60 or so shots and i aint gonna take that many while hunting if shooting targets then i start to notice the diff at120 bar ish
SNAKEBITE
Having looked into this at great length I am confident in stating, at least with my AAS410k ......... "I pump to 175 Bar and refill after approx 40 shots." This has been proven to to be the start of the sweet spot and where it stays very stable. You do get more than 40 shots but that is where it starts to drop off a little. These figures are based on hours of mine and others research, target practice and hunting. However you might be able to guess better with figures plucked off the website and hunches you may have based on speculation and rumour. Fair play to you, if it works for you good luck

stevethevanman
Hey Sanders are you going for a 22LR for these langer range bunnies.
sandersj89
Hey Sanders are you going for a 22LR for these langer range bunnies. No, more likely a .17HMR. I have some very light shy rabbits on the farm at the moment that need dealing with, struggle to get anywhere near them so the plan is to lie up late afternoon to take a few at a time from a static down wind position or over long range at night with a filtered lamp. If I do manage to get close to them the falt trajectory will mean "easier" shooting. It will also be useful for the crows as we do suffer a little with them at this time of year, as soon as they see a gun they stay out of range normal ranges. sandersj89
OK, the chrono finally arrives today and I had a play this evening once I understood the instructions...not clearly written by any means! Rifle tank was at approx 170BAR and I fired off 20 shots that average around 10.37ft lbs. This was with RWS Superdome 14.5gr pellets. I need to run more pellets through to around 120BAR I guess to see what the results look like but 10.4ft lbs seems a little low at this stage.... May be I am wrong. I also need to play around with pellets and will be going to Air Arms own pellets next. Thanks Jerry
kipper
Try accupels my AAS410 loves them. As for filling the tank and sweet spot I allways fill mine to 200bar then plink away untill the pressure drops to arround 140-150 bar, (about 40 -50 shots I think) Accuracy is fantastick at 25-30 yards. Let us know how you get on with your testing. Kipper
SNAKEBITE
I guess to see what the results look like but 10.4ft lbs seems a little low at this stage.... That is what the factory set them at so whatever pellet you use you will be legal. Don't worry though the extra 1.6lb that you are legally allowed will not make that much diffence. Better to be safe and legal I allways fill mine to 200bar then plink away Be careful as the maximum refill limit is 190BAR
