Davyo
Arrived at the perm at 9am,check out both fields where being hit heavily.Decided to take the easy option as I could get the 4x4 within 70 yrds of where I wanted to set up.Walked a couple of hundred off and waited to see if they would come back(5 minutes is all it took).Set the hide up tight into the hedge and then set out 12 modified fuds(movement springs),wind was comming across me from my right.I put the wirly about 10 yrs to the right of the pattern, with two floaters at the rear.At the front of the pattern I set out 12 crow decoys(plywood silhouettes I made) Settled in the hide and before I could pour a pot of tea they started to decoy. The wirly seemed to making them veer off.I decided to take it in as pigeons where plentyfull.Soon had 6 in the back but had missed some stupid birds.I assumed it was due to 1/2 choke in the semi and the pattern too close was the problem(well thats my excuse).l decided to move the decoys out a bit further and it paid off.Ended up with 54 pigeons & 17 crows.Packed up at 1pm as ran out of cartridges(only took a hundred not happy with the earlier misses). I sat in the 4x4 having a cuppa, scanning the other field with the bino's before heading off and got the shock of my life. There where thousands of pigeons on the large field(they just ket flighting from the wood that runs the length of the field. On the way home I was thinking I should of flagged off that field with the canes I keep in the 4x4.(dozen canes with carrier bags on wire) Anyhow will be on the phone to the boss 1st thing putting in a holiday for tomorrow. And taking a 1/4 choke. Forgot to add,the crow decoys is your idea Bob.Cost me under £20 including painting mat black. to make 26.
