roughshooter
If you are loading 32g shells then you will save money on shop bought ones and have better performing shells. You just need to buy smart

turbo33
Steve, your cheapest way forward is to sell one Lee's to recoup some cash, buy the re-sizer ring. Reloading is an art and minefield, its not as simple as it seems. Powder can only be collected or sent, as Deershooter says, with a £30 hazard charge by the courier. The vectan powders are cheapest, but by the time you've paid the hazard charge, its probably equal to that of another suitable powder you can pick up locally. Cases vary enormously. For example, the same powder charge, wads I use in a 70mm Fiocchi case won't do in a used gamebore case due to a smaller base wad.....so the stack is too low. So you can't go picking up any old case and use the same ingredients. Primers vary from cold to hot, and are load data matched, within reason, so you can't just whack and old primer in. My advice would be to take up any offers by an experienced loader to provide all the necessary information required and to show you exactly how to do it. Source one particular make of used shell and stick to that. Bearing in mind, you may only get 1 reload out of a particular shell. some are better, With respect to the guys on this forum that are kind enough to help, you need to do some work yourself in understanding the whole process. Confirming load data is your responsibility. Reloading is not an instant cheap route. It can be cost effective, but it is expensive to get started. It is very rewarding however. johnphilip
the vectan powder comes in a kilo tub ,the american powder comes in a pound tub and they are about they same price , so you are getting a kilo for what you would pay for a pound tub. you would need to order a few tubs to make it pay , or if a few of you are local then share the postage . a great place for stuff is folkstone engineering supplies http://####.co.uk/ if you shoot 20 gauge then you would find it cheaper to load your own, lee do a kit to convert at 12 to a
Guest cookoff013
dont forget that the limit for smokeless powder / propellent to hold is 15kg. if you purchase a larger quantity than normal or up to the limit of what can be sent for the hazmat fee, you`d save on cost /kg. compared to ordering in 500g lots. the things that can help with the cost of reloading is this.... buy cheap. make lead shot. buy "economic powder" that is to be used in an economical way. ie low powdercharges and decent speeds (or acceptable speeds) i started to tinker with a new powder, i managed to get 1oz shot 1300fps with only 15grains of powder, thats ~1050 shells per kg, but the load works out almost as expensive as the cheaper AS loads, just due to the powder being so expensive. i`m also tinkering with 13 grains in a fibre load to get 1100 or so fps. im not after speed because i`ve done that, its expensive. i use an expensive powder /kg but works out cheap per shot as i`m not using much of it. i think i can squeeze 1300shells per kg, and get subsonic 1oz loads,.with decent pressure in a 70mm case. i just need time off to get them tested. i did a 24g fibre load i need to neaten up, and a 21g fibre load to neaten that up too. all in 70mm case. vectan AS is good value, and exellent value in 20gauge. take the small victories as they come.
