Excellent Scottsh project .. my only concern is that for successful "total erradication"! ... there would need to be an across all borders project or the reintroduction threat is a very real one ... the Scottish project website really expresses the real damage these creature actually do. Total erradition across borders is needed. And l'd be happy if it were headed by tbe Scots current project leaders. They having experience, regards to methods, failures/success etc

Not been on that site but know my local river fishery board has a mink trappping programme, think grants available for it to aid water voles. Think there is varoius bits in england where using same grants to trap mink, often see it written about in Basc's green shoots campigns

River used to be polluted with mink now between the trapping and rise in otter numbers quite rare to see 1 now.

While u are quite right hoggy it would be great to get a proper joined up approach across regions or whole country but atleast if u can get a catchment based approaches it's a start and with a few volanteers monitoring specifically placed rafts u might not b long mopping up any incomers.

And totally agree with u about bounty on grey squirrels too

My mate worked up in the island's too trapping mink, when u see the habitat u could not get a more ideal place for mink and a hard place to trap yet they have managed to wipe them out which is quite some feat. If they can do it there can do it anywhere esp so the more lowland catchments with relatively good access

As above re-introduction or even breeding would be a good reason for not having a bounty on mink, possibly by sharing experience and techniques, with possible funding and documented trapping it may be possible to reduce mink numbers to unsustainable levels or at least knock em back to less threatening numbers
