Markt3815
Could anyone in the know give me an idea of the date of my aya no2 serial no 454079
JohnfromUK
1976 or 77. My No 1 is 51xxx and was made 1977 and they were making about 20,000 guns a year then. You can get an exact date from Carmen at AyA at aya@aya-fineguns.com. They are very helpful and quick to respond usually. Markt3815
Thanks for your replys only letter I can see on the proof mark is an X ? Edited April 6, 2014 by Markt3815
triumphant59
If it is marked X*1 it was made in 1978. Around that time they installed a press to engrave the lock plates. If the engravings around the cocking indicator is slightly off centre it was pressed and if it is central it was hand engraved. Bit of useless information! Markt3815
Hope I'm looking in the right place . Cock the gun and it's stamped on the flats of the action like a hall mark on gold or silver ?
triumphant59
The date code will be stamped on the barrel flats, often quite faint.
