kyska
I've had a bluefin installed for a few weeks, the car has now started to have it engine management light come on, if uninstall the bluefin, all is good. Superchips are confident from the diagnostics that it is the coil pack, needs replacing. Is it safe to run the car with the light on, or should is unistall the remap until I can get to scar technician?
Guest rimotu66
Not sure what a Blue fin is but reading your post it would seem that the fault would be in the Blue fin as you say the car is fine without it Edited April 6, 2014 by rimotu66

chady
I had this The problem is a car can run fine, but when you start tuning parts can't keep up so that's when the problems show them selfs. I had it with a cossworth long story short the fuel pump needed upgrading.
123*armour
What type of car is it?
kyska
What type of car is it? VW scirocco, the diagnostic says its a misfire or intermittent misfire. I think this is a common problem, with the car running at such a higher performance, the tolerance for things to right is smaller, I just need to know if it'll damage the car running with the light on. I ask this as superchip want me to ring them to go through the diagnostics with the light in, but due to shifts I can't till Tuesday. The bluefin itself isn't a problem, they are tried and tested remaps, it's a fault with the car...in this instance with the remap installed.....I think! 123*armour
Your problem could be as simple as a set of spark plugs, fords would have the same problem after a remap

I'll try that rather than a coil pack replacement.
HAYBURN
No harm in trying a set of spark plugs...remove one at a time an have a good look at the porcelain on each plug your looking for black lines(tracking marks)...a good sign the rubber insulation is breaking down on the coil pack or coil packs. vw's very common for misfiring due to coil packs. will_gleave
As a person that does remaps as part of my day to day job all i can say is that 90% of the time everything goes smoothly however there are times things don't, and as another member has highlighted underlying problems are enhanced after you remap/tune an engine as you are trying to optimise the way the engine runs so if something is on its way out it becomes more obvious. kyska
Ok, the Light is back on and the bluefin set tells me a code which works out to be 'manifold flap position sensor' Can anyone explain what this is, and will it damage the car to run like this? If I uninstall the remap it vanishes!
keg
Assume as it has coil packs and you mention spark plugs that it's a petrol? IS it the Turbo version? Might just be as simple as a loose plug connection.

If I uninstall the remap it vanishes! Not sure about VW but usually manifold flaps alter the flow of air throughout the inlet manifold to help torque. I've seen a few Ford C Max's with problems, usually the external operating system.
