kennym
Hi all, I got my variation back for .243 very quickly, but an empty slot I had for section 1 shotgun was left off, I spoke to firearms department and the person who deals with them was not in, but the person I spoke to thinks it was just an oversight, has anyone else had this happen? CharlieT
To retain the unused authority to acquire you would have needed to reapply for it on the variation you submitted, did you ?

Breastman
If you had a S1 shotgun in your 'Firearms authorised to be purchased or acquired' (Section 1ii) and you made a variation for something else (your .243 in this case), and the FAC has come back with the .243 but not the S1 shotgun then that is an oversight, you don't have to reapply for everything you have in the 'Firearms authorised to be purchased or acquired' section every time you want add something else to it. If on the other hand you did a '1 for 1' variation to swap the S1 shotgun slot for the .243 then what they've done is correct. The easiest way of knowing that would be did you pay the £26 fee or not. If you did pay the fee you need to send your FAC back for them to put the shotgun back on. A similar thing has happened to me, but instead of missing off an item, they copied everything from my 'Firearms Possessed' (Section1i) back into the 'Authority to acquire' section, so i could've bought the whole lot over again! Actually, that is not strictly correct, see procedural practice requirements. Application for a variation to a firearm certificatePlease note that you will need to enclose your current firearm certificate with the completed form. At question 12 enter all the firearms you wish to acquire including any unused variations from a previous request. Unused authorities are not automatically carried forward unless you request this. Breastman
As the man in the orthopedic shoe said, "I stand corrected!" That must be a new procedure with the new application forms as i've done it numerous times without applying for all of the unused slots each time. Quite apt as i just put a variation in on Friday and didn't reapply for the .22 sound mod slot still on there, best ive them a bell!

Durham obviously apply a little common sense.............but as you say it may be worth a call just to be sure they still are.

kennym
I believe Durham and Cleveland are now combined, the postal address is Thornaby but the actual office is at Wynyard,
Breastman
I believe Durham and Cleveland are now combined, the postal address is Thornaby but the actual office is at Wynyard, They must have some bloody fast drivers/post men then! I rang Durham FLD about picking up my FAC that had just had a variation approved on it when i was passing through Durham and 8 minutes later it was waiting for me at the reception desk in Aykley Heads!
