strangford wildfowler
My dad used to shoot a pond and he said you coulda shot all types of duck on it mallards, teal, wigeon, shoveler, gadwalls, tuffs a few pintail. But they mainly shot mallards and he said the shoveler where always good sport on it. Looking to get a new flight pond before the season starts. Konnie
depends what is in the area to attract them by which I mean habitat features, a flight pond near the coast will be mainly foreshore dabblers, one near the ouse washes if deep enough will attract divers but remember I would think the 3 most common are the dabblers mentioned mallard. teal ,wigeon feed is a thing that can alter this without doubt

kent
No fixed rules, its down to habitat. Make it and they will come! Even duck rarely seen off the saltmarsh fringes can turn up inland but they obviously have to find it on their migration route or similar. I think the best ponds give a range of depths and hence feeding opportunities to a bigger variety of duck
misser
as stated above.. down to habitat, disturbance, not overshooting and a bit of feed....if these are done correctly think you'd be surprised what would visit......
