Had a few hours to kill today so had a run down to the farm.

hardly owt about really but what was flying seemed to be crossing a point where there is a big fuel bowser sat in a field so thought I'd chance it and stick a few crow and woody decoys out and sit between bowser and hedge with tall barley in field behind and grass/chick weed in field with decoys. Pigeons didn't play ball with most coming from behind and seen too late to shoot but had a few crows decoy nicely. Ended with 1 jackdaw and 2 carion crows, 1 with a lot of white on wing feathers don't know why this is? Also dropped a nice pigeon came straight at me head on like a bat out of hell but it dropped behind bowser in barley and I wasn't goin to spend 10 mins flattening the crop looking for it. 4 birds for 8 shots 1 being a follow up on the jackdaws hence it's ruffled look, full choke at 10m does that! So only 3 misses and a lovely sunny day too happy shooter :)20140429_145550_zpsyjzzzcmr.jpg

Carrion crows will interbreed with Hooded crows but never seen any Hoodys in South Yorkshire so doubt it. Quite a few individuals of the black varieties have natural pigments that develop the odd white feather. We used to have a black bird in my garden that had a lot of white on it. It was around for a couple of years and got quite tame
