The barrels are stamped browning arms company Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ . Would this gun be made in the USA or by miruko in japan . Thank you meisters . Oh ,one other thing it also stamped special steel ,what does that mean . Harnser.
Westward
Every single Citori ever produced came out of the Miroku factory.
Harnser
Every single Citori ever produced came out of the Miroku factory. I am not so sure that ,that statement is true . Many years ago I had a citori skeet gun that was stamped ,made in herstal Belgium by Fn . Harnser
Westward
Was it stamped as a Citori?
Harnser
Was it stamped as a Citori? I can clearly remember buying it as a citori from a local dealer . It was very ornate with some super engraving and a first class piece of wood . As to wether or not it said citori on it I really cannot remember . I bought the gun in the late sixtys and if my memory serves me correct I paid £180 which was a fortune in those days . I also remember selling the gun about 8 years later for £ 500 . Harnser. Westward
The first Citoris appeared in the 70s. There's some confusion as to which year, some say 73 others say 76, but back in the 60s it would have been a Superposed rather than a Citori. My lawyer advise me that if you remember anything accurately from the 60s then you weren't there! B)
HDAV
What proof marks?
Gunman
There were some "Miroku's finished in Belgium as the B125 but it was not considered cost effective so as a result all the Japanese made guns were finished prior to shipping . Some will have been stamped up for the American market but shipped to other countries directly . This is why most of the Browning /Miroku guns you see in the UK have British proof . It would seem from looking at other web sites that all Miroku made guns sold in the States are sold under the Browning name and are referred to by the Americans as Citori's . Hardwoods Green
Citori as we know it ( ie UK spec) first appeared here in 1984/85 and was axes in 1987 in favour of the lighter and less clumsy 325 model
Andy135
Thanks to the OP for raising this. I too have a Citori with the same barrel stamps. Mine's a PV (1985) date code. US, Japan or Belgium manufacture?
Westward
If it's a Citori it will be inscribed as such on the gun somewhere, probably on the bottom. Likewise if it's a 325 etc. In either case it will have been built by Miroku. FWIW the Cynergys are also built by Miroku. All other O/U variants, both pre and post war are built in Belgium with some, like the 125, using parts supplied by Miroku. Browning has never built O/U shotguns in America, the stamp on the barrels is just branding. My 2012 Beretta is stamped with Beretta USA Accocreek etc. but it was built and proofed in Italy. Harnser
My gun is stamped citori under the action and after rechecking the date when it was built it ,it is infact 1986 and not 1984 . Is this gun a 325 ,and what is the significant of the special steel stamped on the barrels .thank you meisters . Harnser
